4 to do sales items

Sales in general has changed and is changing at a rapid pace. Social Media has led that change it seems. Sales increases are more difficult to get, but also, more difficult to keep.
Realize you must understand the person you are talking to and know the organization they are with. At one time or another we all need things. There is a good possibility who you call will need what you have to offer.

  • Ask the right questions; understand what they want and what they need. This allows you to explore.
  • Listen to their problems
  • Become a consultant. Understand their situation.
  • Give ideas. Show your prospect that you can solve their problem(s). This obviously may take time, but use this to your advantage as you'll have plenty of reasons to stay in touch.
Concentrate on thinking at their level. Show caring and knowledge.

how to get ideas and make then work

Coming up with ideas may be a struggle. Here's 3 items that will help.
  1. Write down on paper your three greatest wishes, numbering them one, two, and three. Look at this wish list every day.
  2. Spend one hour every day analyzing and studying your job. Do this often and in less than five years you will be an acknowledged expert on that job.
  3. Spend one hour every day with a white sheet of paper in front of you and write down every idea you can think of. You will get surprising ideas that will improve your job and performance.

mission strategy

The message is clear. If you wish to get ahead, you must think and speak strategically. Organizations need a leader who is a strategist; one who serves.

We all contribute operational expertise towards a mission, vision, and value. To possess a strategic plan and way of thinking helps analyze and manage interaction, benchmarking, and system set-up.

Shifting your mindset from functional to strategic is a transformation that helps share vision and position.

Thinking strategically helps to see every part of the organization. This helps build strategic insight. More focus on business, market, and industry is needed to develop a strategic point of view.

MISSION STATEMENT

General Eisenhower
During WWII, the Supreme Headquarters, Allied Expeditionary Force (SHAEF) had a mission statement. It was the unconditional surrender of Nazi Germany. That mission statement did not change. SHAEF didn't waver or waffle from it. The Allies' goal was crystal clear, from General Dwight David Eisenhower, the Supreme Commander of SHAEF, to the children collecting old bicycle tires in America for recycling, and everyone in between. The mission statement was short and simple, easy to remember, and projected a vision which was unforgettable.

KNOW YOUR INDUSTRY

SHAEF knew how many men, tanks, planes, trucks, cannon, guns...... well, you got the picture.
Do you know your picture? If not... paint one. Know your inventory. Know the managers who are in charge of the various departments. Learn and know this now! You can't be a strategic thinker and develop a plan without knowing your resources.

Know the market and anticipate where the general, overall market is going. Have a general idea of technological changes and how these advances are being applied. Don't be shortsighted.

TALK STRATEGY

Your mission and vision won't get you very far if you can't talk the talk. Develop a network of those you feel  are valuable to your organization. We've all heard the value of networking. Put what you've heard into practice. Networking should be ongoing. If you need outside sources, find these folks with LinkedIn and other Social Media platforms. Don't do networking as an afterthought. Instead, develop a network that will serve you as a means of support.

Talk with decision-makers who have a firm grasp of command and control throughout their own organizations. Groom mentor relationships by volunteering your expertise to keep the conservations going. Make this part of your plan and keep to it.

CONCLUSION

There is a leadership component in all of us. We all have a vision. Perhaps at times it's a bit blurry, but that's where your mission statement comes into play. Becoming a strategic thinker allows you to share the mission, vision, and value of your organization from within and without to customers, prospects, and colleagues.

why be a mentor

There is no doubt mentors can have a huge impact on people, especially younger members of an organization. Being an effective mentor is a skill in and of itself. Rather than solve problems, coach your mentee to find their own answers.

Become the guide on the side.

Mentors need to ask probing questions to challenge the mentee. Be supportive and nurture.

As a mentor, you'll discover that your relationship will benefit you and the mentee. You'll become more energized and learn new things. You'll develop new managerial skills that will help you and your organization's performance.

It's not one-way learning..... it's a great source of ideas.

connections rewire

We have the ability to breakout of the negative feedback loop.

Unlocking the durable power of positive thinking can rewire ourselves to think positively. The brain can rewire its own connections and has the ability to change structurally. When we learn something, we change neural connections. Every time we reactivate a circuit, a synaptic efficiency increases, and connections become more durable and easier to reactivate. Whenever we do specific tasks over and over again, it takes less brain power over time.

We can harness the brain's plasticity by training our brain to make positive patterns more automatic. Practice the positive aspects of life. That keeps the negative tendencies away. We can retrain the brain to scan for the good things in life. A positive thinking pattern has a powerful impact. This could be difficult and awkward feeling at the beginning, but the rewards will be worth the effort.

 from Lanny-yap

We have to build habit that becomes more automatic and longer lasting.

Here are three top ways to rewire ourselves for positivity:
  1. Scan for 3 daily positives. Reflect on what caused them to happen. Celebrate small wins.
  2. Give one shout-out to someone (daily).
  3. Do something nice. This has power to get us out of the negativity loop.
Focus on these three items each day. This is the start of the connection rewire.

insight creation

Do you have the need for new insights? Do you wish to appreciate your surroundings? If so, start being alone. Start this by creating your own little space. I did. This helps you appreciate your surroundings and being alone at the same time.

If you appreciate being alone, and later learn to be alone, you will never feel alone again. Being alone means you will no longer need to adhere to others' beliefs and misconceptions. You still have friends and you are not depressed.

We all need our own space, whether in small or large doses. The space needs to be there. This gives being alone a value. This value is importance. This importance leads to success. Successful people understand the importance of being alone. They generally advocate meditation They understand that "aloneness" is an art form. This allows new insights to enter into your life.

run to win

In Jerry Kamer's book Instant Replay, Jerry recounts on December 23, 1967, before the Green Bay Packers played the Los Angeles Rams in the Western Conference championship game, that Packer head coach Vince Lombardi  said the key phrase was "Run to Win".

Jerry wrote that Coach Lombardi said, "that many people enter a race and just think about finishing, or about coming in second or third, but that when we enter a race, we're only looking for one thing: We run to win."

In that speech, Mr. Lombardi took his text from one of St. Paul's Epistles. Jerry wrote he didn't know which one. Coach Lombardi had a way of making all the saints sound like they would be great football coaches.

Do we always run to win? I know I don't. Which has beem unfortunate.. That's my fault, not anyone elses. What has Paul taught me about winning? To be frank, I'm not sure. But, again that's my fault, and I am now exploring how Paul can help me win.

Coach Lombardi gave some great advice and his team took that advice and "ran" with it. They won the game against the Rams, 28-7. Let's explore how we can take great advice and "run" with it. That way we will "run to win".

inside out

We all become the media when we post. It's not about us. It's about the social media platform. It's about leveraging the medium. We build relationships and networks. We share.

Becoming a social entity transforms the organization from the inside out. Becoming social  starts from the inside.

So must we start from the inside? Must we find ourselves from the inside out? Finding our "within" so we are better in tune with the culture and society allows us to better understand our purpose and intent.

When studying social media I have been amazed at the results. One item that comes to mind is the amount of users on social media. This is really astounding. We are part of this astonishment! Our journey is directed by the inside out.

We have to invest in ourselves. Invest for the long haul, and we'll achieve more. This is how to create value. Concentrate on the inner thoughts that will be successful. Focus on the knowledge needed for solid concentration that puts the pieces of the puzzle together.

Measurement in social media is the lasting friendships and understanding garnered from friends and followers. Be prepared to enjoy yourself.
